I was always told never to throw away any of my old clothes, even if they weren’t “cool” anymore because things always come back into fashion.
That couldn’t be more true this year as tons of 90s fashion and styles are making their way back and becoming “trendy.”
Some things you’re buying and wearing were staples in the 90s and you might not even know it!
Let’s see if your street styles is inspired by the 90s!
If you haven’t noticed, everyone is wearing a choker lately. It’s the “it” thing of the hour. Chokers have come a long way since the 90s, when we used to rock “tattoo-style” versions, but we can’t complain. We love the black and velvet around our necks!
Then Vs. Now
2. Gel shoes
Gel shoes have also come a long way. We’ve still got people rocking the sandal jellies that I’m sure you remember wearing when you were 5. But we’ve also got brands like Melissa that make boots, heels, flats and sandals in jelly form. Did we mention they SMELL phenomenal?
3. Burgundy Berry Lips
Berry lips were a stable in the 90s and they are still popular today, many times during the fall season!
Then Vs. Now
4. Light Up Shoes
These had to be your favorite when you were a kid! They had sandals and gym shoes that lit up and blinked whenever you took a step. Well, now that we’re in the “technology era” these shoes are making a comeback only bigger and better than ever! Buy yourself a pair here, you won’t regret it!
Oh flannel. Flannel went from being a nineties grunge look to being the thing everyone wore when they went to a pumpkin patch or did anything fall to becoming the uniform for every single concert – albeit, you had to tie it around your hips to look cool!
6. The Denim Jacket
Who knew denim would be so in 20 years later after Britney and JT rocked all denim from head to toe? And really, a few years ago, you wouldn’t be caught in denim on denim. Now? It’s actually fashionable!
7. Crop Tops
Showing your belly was cool in the 90s and it made its way back now, especially for festival season. Aside from that, it’s already appeared in a more “fashionable” way at red carpets and award shows.
8. Mom Jeans
Always comfortable, sometimes fashionable.
We used to hate overalls but you can really make a statement with them now, especially if you’re into the “hipster” look.
10. Little Buns
The Spice Girls rocked them and now girls are pairing them with chokers and flannel. I mean, do you see a pattern?
11. Shoulderless tops
A summer trend we couldn’t avoid this year. Also popular now are “cold shoulder tops.”
