The Search For Chicago’s Official Christmas Tree is On

The search for Chicago’s official Christmas tree is on!

The tree must meet these requirements:

  • be at least 55 feet tall
  • be a spruce or fir tree, not a pine.
  • be located less than 100 miles from the Loop.

If you’ve got a tree you think could qualify, email it to  DCASE@cityofchicago.org or by mail to the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, ATTN: Christmas Tree Contest, 78 E. Washington Street, Chicago, IL. 60602 (must be received by Oct. 21).

The tree becomes a city staple for the holiday season and is part of a tree lighting ceremony in Millennium Park!

Winners are announced in November.
