Jim Carrey Speaks Out About Wrongful Death Lawsuit Filed By Late Girlfriend’s Husband

Adding insult to injury.

Jim Carrey is being sued for the wrongful death of his late girlfriend, Cathriona White, by her husband.

White passed away by suicide from prescription pills in 2015.

USA Today reports that her estranged husband, Mark Burton, filed the suit in a Los Angeles County Superior Court.

He claims that Carrey is to blame for her death because the drugs including Ambient, Propranolol and Percocet, were prescribed to Arthur King, Carrey’s pseudonym.

“After obtaining these drugs illegally and under a bogus name (‘Arthur King’), Mr. Carrey proceeds to provide the prescription drugs to … Cathriona White,” the documents read.

They also state that Carrey knew White was “prone to depression and had previously attempted to take her own life. The result that followed was predictable and foreseeable.”

Burton also claims that Carrey wanted to distance himself and deny any involvement in the death.

Carrey told US Weekly that this is a “heartless attempt” to exploit him and his late girlfriend.

“What a shame. It would be easy for me to get back in a room with this man’s lawyer and make this go away, but there are moments in life when you have to stand up and defend your honor against the evil in this world. I will not tolerate this heartless attempt to exploit me or the woman I loved,” the statement read.

“Cat’s troubles were born long before I met her, and sadly her tragic end was beyond anyone’s control. I really hope someday soon people will stop trying to profit from this and let her rest in peace.”
