Following her divorce from Johnny Depp, Amber Heard donated all of her $7 million settlement to charity.
The actress divided the settlement equally between the American Civil Liberties Union, specifically to prevent violence against women, and the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles.
“As described in the restraining order and divorce settlement, money played no role for me personally and never has, except to the extent that I could donate it to charity and, in doing so, hopefully help those less able to defend themselves,” she said in a statement.
She added: “I know these organisations will put the funds to good use and look forward to continuing to support them in the future. Hopefully, this experience results in a positive change in the lives of people who need it the most.”
Heard and Depp’s settle their divorce on Tuesday, where Heard also withdrew the restraining order against him.
The two were married for 15-months. When Heard filed for divorce, she said he was violent and often abused her, even once throwing a phone at her.
He has denied all the allegations.
